Flag Prep (Session 1)
Volunteers Needed: 6 people
Tasks:
This volunteer crew will count and inspect the flags from 2024, build any new flag kits needed for this year, and package up flags for transport to the field.

Medallion Tag Assembly (Session 1)
Time: During and after regular Rotary Club of Durham meeting
Tasks:
Affix sponsor/hero name labels to pre-printed medallion tags
Affixing these labels takes approximately three minutes per medallion tag
There will be an initial 15-minute assembly during meeting
Optional 30-minute extension after meeting

Flag Prep (Session 2)
Volunteers Needed: 6 people
Tasks:

Time: 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Tasks:
Complete remaining medallion tag assembly
Affix remaining sponsor/hero name labels

Flag Installation (Transport) (Shift 1)
Volunteers Needed: 4 people
Tasks:
Flag transportation
At storage unit

Flag Installation (On Site) (Shift 1)
Volunteers Needed: 12 people

Flag Installation (Transport) (Shift 2)
Volunteers Needed: 4 people
Tasks:

Flag Installation (On Site) (Shift 2)

Flag Planting
Volunteers Needed: 12 people
Tasks:
‘Planting’ of 10' flags (approximately 5 minutes per flag)

Flag Maintenance
Volunteers Needed: 14 people
Tasks:
During the display of flags, we need pairs of volunteers who are willing to walk the site to catch any ongoing maintenance we need to do to keep all the flags sharp and flying at full staff.
Also, if Hub RTP or visitors report any issues, we hope maintenance volunteers would be willing to follow up on any requests around their shift to check them out and work with the logistic group to address them.
Shift times, listed below, are flexible – we're hoping that each pair can plan on at least one field stop a week.

Flag Removal (On Site)

Take down all flags
Inspect flags for damage
Prepare flags for transport to Extra Space Storage located at 903 Lambeth Circle, Durham NC 27705

Volunteers Needed: 6 people
Tasks:
Transportation of flags to Extra Space Storage located at 903 Lambeth Circle, Durham NC 27705

Flag Anchor Installation
Volunteers Needed: 12 people
Tasks:
This volunteer slot will be to plant new flag anchors at the Hub RTP campus to expand the flag display for 2025. We'll be setting up a Parade of Heroes along the road that separates Honor Fields A and B, adding to Honor Field B, and adding a new Honor Field (C) in front of the parking area.
