About Walter

Walter Deloatch, Sr. served in the US Army (1944-1946), during World War II. Raised in the rural, segregated South, Walter said his military experience was “life changing,” including travel to France and the Philippines. He was proud of his commendations and rank as Corporal. After service, Walter returned to Northampton County, where he and his wife, raised their ten children! Through the GI Bill, he trained to be a brick mason, and for over 30 years, he constructed homes, schools and more throughout the region. Walter "finished life" in 2022 at 98. He’s remembered as a loving father, friend and community leader.
